The much awaited 2016 budget has been signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The president appended his signature to the Appropriation Bill at about 12.30pm on Friday inside his office.
Recall that presidential assent was withheld for weeks due to grey areas in the 2016 Budget passed by the National Assembly over two weeks ago.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, John Odigie-Oyegun; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; chairmen of the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Appropriation – Senator Danjuma Goje and Abdulmumin Jubril respectively.
Others include Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang and Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives), Samaila Kawo.
Details of the final copy of the budget signed into law by Buhari is unknown at this time.
