JAMB directs all institutions to end 2017 admissions next week



The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Thursday directed all tertiary institutions to end their 2017 admission by January 25.

The Board’s Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin said the board’s decision came at a meeting where all issues and ones bordering on the admission process were taken into consideration.

He said it was resolved that the academic calendar must be adhered to.

According to him, the directive becomes necessary as the board intends to meet up with the academic calendar as earlier agreed.

“By implication, candidates who have gained admissions into various institutions and are yet to register or do not have admissions by January 25 should begin to make preparations for the 2018 UTME.

“The public must also note that the UTME results are valid for only one year and not three years as widely speculated.

“If changes are made to the validity, I assure you the board would communicate appropriately to the public.”

The board had recently said that the UTME examinations would take place between March 9 and 17, while the mock exams would take place in the first week of February.

Benjamin also noted that the sale of Direct Entry forms are ongoing, while urging candidates who intend to apply to do so immediately as the sale of the DE forms ends on the same date with the UTME’s.

“It has come to our knowledge that a lot of candidates are not aware of the sale of the Direct Entry forms, which we have advertised.

“We are calling on desirous candidates to please register their profile and obtain the pins from the vending platforms.

“Candidates who want to apply to institutions through DE must note that the sale of the forms started same date as the UTME’s and would end on the same date which is on February 6.

“This form can be obtained through the same process as the UTME forms.

“It could be purchased through vending commercial banks, Mobile Money Operators (MMO’s), Interswitch, NIPOST and Remita,” he said.

Benjamin, however, noted that candidates should ensure that they disclose at the point of obtaining e-pins the exact pins they are paying for, that is, Direct Entry or UTME as some unknowingly purchase Direct Entry instead of UTME and vice-versa.

Start with the ones your country shares a border with. Once you have your mind set on where you want to go that is close and affordable, you are one step closer to meeting your 2018 travel goals.

Get a travel Buddy. 
Traveling solo has its perks. But for a first time adventurer, you might want to have someone to tag along with. This move has safety and economic advantages. You get to split the bills with someone as well as have someone look out for you as well on your adventure. A travel buddy also makes the trip twice the fun.

Research your destination. 
It is important for you to research your destination as the first part of planning your trip. Know what transportation options are available, know what the weather is like. Find out what the currency is and where to change if going outside the country. Know about points of interests that deserve a visit.

Use Social Media to find new friends in your destination. 
As part of researching your destination, you could also use Social Media to look out for friends who are in your destination. Looking forward to meeting new people in your destination can be a motivation for traveling. Wonder no more, the reason why he/she is now in 200 level is because that your so friend has gone to enroll in an A'level programme like IJMB, and used the result to apply for his/her university of choice. And we are here to explain today, what the programme is all about, and how you can use the same result to gain admission, and by next year October, you too must have been in 200 level. 
What is IJMB?
IJMB means Interim Joint Matriculation Board. It is an A Level program organized by ABU Zaria. IJMB is an 8 months program through which you can secure admission in to 200 level in any university of your choice. IJMB is equivalent to NCE and OND. After your final examination you can use the result to secure admission in to 200 Level by obtaining direct entry form.


Why You Need To Write IJMB Before Even Before Creating JAMB Profile

Most O'level leavers do not even know any program called A' level. A level program means an Advanced programme, and the most common A' level programs in Nigeria as of today are IJMB, Cambridge A Level, JUPEB and NABTEB A Level. These programmes when run by a student, such student has the opportunity to combine the result with Direct Entry form that is obtainable at JAMB office and banks and used it to gain admission into any of the candidate  choices of university, and now he/she gains admission into 200 level and they can study any course being Medicine, Law, Accounting etc.


Furthermore, why we are here today is because of IJMB, IJMB is a 9-months programme, the programmes is moderated and supervised by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The exam is usually February every year, and the result is released between late April or early May. Again, lectures usually commence between March and April evey year.

Why You Need To Write IJMB First Before JAMB

Now that the JAMB do not accept awaiting result, most O' level leavers who do not know IJMB or any of the A' Level, ending up wasting the opportunity they have to apply for IJMB in order to admission with IJMB result the following year into 200 level, and by this means they waste no time at home at all. So the number reason is that you do not have waste any time at home

Secondly, the chances of students to gain admission into 200 level is higher than JAMB we have over 1.5 Million competing for few spaces every year but with IJMB, only a few people use Direct Entry form. It is far less competitive. 

Furthermore, when you wait for the following year to write JAMB, if you refuse to go for IJMB program, the chances candidates have to gain admission with JAMB is less than 50%. But when you write IJMB first (immediately you finished secondary school) is more than 80%. At least, 80% of people who write IJMB every does use it to gain admission.

When you are lucky to know about IJMB and apply for the program, your result has 90% to be better than those who use JAMB, because your CGPA start counting from 200 level unlike those who their CGPA starts counting from 100 level. Greater chances of graduating with 2.1 (Second class upper) 

Again, applying with IJMB result does not automatically stop from applying with JAMB also. So when yo are done with your WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB examinations and you decided to go for IJMB, when you are done and you come out with a good point from IJMB. And decided to buy your Direct Entry form from bank/JAMB office. It does not stop you from buying JAMB form also. So why you are using IJMB result in one hand, you are using JAMB form in another. So one must click. But does it necessary? Your answer.


Another thing we must mention here before telling you steps to register for IJMB is that with your Direct Entry form, you can apply to as many universities as you want. Up to 6 universities (If you buy 3 Direct Entry forms), But do you need that? Your answer

When you are in 200 level, there is no different between those who use IJMB and JAMB to gain admission. 

IJMB gives you first-hand experience of Campus life, hostel and different people from different states, region. 


Parents should start encouraging their wards to go for IJMB first, before thinking of writing JAMB if at all he/she must write one.

Benefits Of Writing JAMB Before IJMB

Sorry, is there any benefitting of writing JAMB before IJMB? I do not know of any, but now I remember one. The one I remember will just make you like every other 1.5 million who write JAMB every year and 990,000 who does not use it to gain admission into the university of every year.

A Chief Magistrate's Court in Sango, yesterday, dismissed charges filed against the man who named his dog 'Buhari' in a community in Ogun state.

Magistrate O. O. Adebo said the prosecutor failed to substantiate his case against Joachim Iroko and consequently struck out all charges preferred against him. Mr. Iroko's lawyer was ecstatic, yesterday, praising the court for the verdict.

Mr. Iroko, 41, was arrested in August 2016 for causing a breach of peace after he was reported by his neighbour, for alleged insensitivity in Mr. Iroko's action of naming his dog after the President.
The neighbour, identified as Haliru Umar from Sokoto State, said Mr. Iroko harboured sinister motives when he named his dog Buhari.

The arrest of Mr. Iroko sparked nationwide outrage in August 2016 and critics accused the police of stifling constitutionally guaranteed freedom.
The police denied that Mr. Iroko's ordeal had anything to do with the president but strictly about the breach of peace complaints received from his neighbour.
The presidency also reacted to the arrest when Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said the president paid more attention to cartoon pages in the newspapers rather than following Mr. Iroko's case that was generating nationwide furore at the time.
Speaking with Vanguard after the verdict, the suspect, Joachim Iroko said he has been vindicated.

According to Dawn News, a special police party headed by SHO Khuda Bakhsh Panhwar raided the ceremony and succeeded in arresting the nikkah khwan, Molvi Kifayatullah Bhutto, 40, the 'groom', Habibullah Shar, and the father of the groom, Gul Meer. The police also took the five-year-old bride, the daughter of Zameer Shar, into custody along with her mother.

The marriage had been solemnised before police reached the place. Police shifted the accused and the bride to the Dakhan Police Station and later handed them over to Gaheja Police for prosecution under the Early Child Marriages Restraint Act of 2013.

Gaheja Police registered a case against the groom, his parents and the parents of the girl on behalf of the state under Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Child marriage is a punishable offence in Sindh. According to Child Marriages Restraint Act, a child marriage includes any marriage where one of the contracting parties is less than 18 years of age. Those found guilty of entering into, or facilitating, a child marriage can be sentenced to rigorous punishment for up to 3 years.

A Zambian school teacher who teaches biology at the St Therese Girls Secondary School, Kasama, has been caught having s*x with a grade 11 pupil.

The teacher has been suspended while the Pupil has been expelled

According to Mano News, the District Education Board Secretary Christopher Sinkamba disclosed this in an interview following an outcry by members of the public.

Sinkamba says the embattled teacher identified as Raphael Mwape is on suspension awaiting disciplinary charges.

He adds that the school administration initially reported the matter to police for defilement but that the police could not proceed with investigations as the girl turned up to be over 16 years old.

And when queried why the pupil was expelled when sources said the teacher was still teaching, Sinkamba says the girl was given a forced transfer clarifying that the pupil was found wanting by the school rules.

On 13th June 2017, Raphael Mwape, a Biology teacher at St Therese Girls Secondary School in Kasama was caught red handed having sex with a pupil in a science laboratory.

A month long investigations by Mano News reveal that the incident happened around 18:00 hours when embattled Mwape was caught by two pupils having s*x in laboratory B with a named girl.

While the named Pupil who hails from the Copperbelt province has been expelled from the School.

Over the weekend, Drake mentioned that he was going to “retire” his stripper ex-girlfriend Maliah Michel. Drake meant this as a compliment in the sense that she wouldn't have to be a stripper anymore, but Maliah took this the wrong way and called him out in a series of tweets.
It all started with Drake hosting a retirement party for Lira Galore, Miracle Watts and Maliah Michel at his pop-up nightclub The Ballet. The festivities required hanging up the jerseys of the strippers to commemorate their retirement. In addition, each woman received special gifts from Louis Vuitton courtesy of Drake’s new partnership with them.
Miracle Watts was really appreciative of the gesture and took to Instagram to thank the rapper for retiring her from her life as a stripper. 
She wrote: "Look, I don't dance now, I make Money moves Thanks @champagnepapi for helping me gracefully "HANG UP MY JERSEY" OFFICIALLY! 3 years ago, I made a decision to leave the pole in my past, && I never looked back. I'm blessed and thankful to be a part. #MotivateTheStrippers #HoustonMade."
The second stripper, Galore, was also thankful and wrote on Instagram: "Wow, made strip club history tonight. Got in, got out .. STILL relevant. S/O to the BOY !! @Drake"
Maliah, however, did not share the other women's sentiments and she said as much on Instagram. She shared photos of herself in her stripper's get-up and wrote: 
"Contrary to "social media news" no man can retire me. I'm shaking this azz into a wheel chair. Maliah will retire Maliah #MaliahMondays"
Later, she took to Twitter to blast Drake and revealed that he was controlling and mentally abusive during their relationship.

Nigerian born boxer, Anthony Joshua’sworld heavyweight title rematch with Russian, Vladimir Klitschko has been fixed for November 11, 2017 at the new hi-tech T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.

According to promoter, Eddie Hearn, 'the venue and the date are the preferred options, with T-Mobile and November 11 pencilled in'. This translates into virtual confirmation that the second edition of the epic battle between Joshua and the iconic former world champion Klitschko is on.

Win or lose, this is likely to be Klitschko’s last fight and a source close to his camp said: ‘If this is to be the end of his fantastic career, he wants to go out in style in Vegas.’
