– Top Naija CEO, Paul Oghoghorie spoke on what inspired him to start up the award.
The anticipated Top Naija Music Awards 2015 presentation ceremony took place over the weekend in Lagos.
It was a night that saw celebrities from various part of the entertainment industry come together to celebrate the upcoming acts of the music industry.
According to the CEO Paul Oghoghorie who also celebrated his 30th birthday on the same day, Top Naija Music award is to encourage artists who hustle to record their songs.
In his words, “It all started in 2012, I decided to encourage upcoming artists in order to give them a voice and something to believe in and to keep them off the street.
When asked the names of winners the award had produced so far, Paul said “the first edition produced winners like Korede Bello, Reekado Banks, late Goldie, Adol, Minjin and others. In 2014 we had Dr Tee Mac Omatshola Iseli, Nollywood star – Shan George , Chief Larry Williams, Korede Bello, Reekado Banks, the very energetic Derenle and a host of others.”
Celebrities awarded at the event included Nollywood star, Olayiwola Razaq otherwise known as Ojopagogo and his wife, Moji Afolayan, Adekunle Gold, Falz, Simi and others.
