Senator David Mark has commended his people for standing by him for the 16 years he has been a senator and has pledged to deliver on his promises
The election of the former Senate president was annulled following charges of electoral irregularities brought by the candidate of the All progressives Congress in the Benue south election.
Leadership reports that ahead of the February 20, 2016 Benue South reruns election, Mark applauded his people for standing by him for 16 years.

In a statement issued by Paul Mumeh, the media aide to the senator on Friday, January 29, Mark received members of Idoma Dreams and Idoma Young Professionals who were already campaigning for his re-run.
“I am deeply touched by this uncommon show of brotherhood and solidarity.”

The two groups volunteered to campaign for his re-election and Mark assured them that he was committed to the development of Benue and beyond.
He said: “I am deeply touched by this uncommon solidarity. Let me also remind you that in going about the campaign for me please always be law abiding. I need you to be peaceful during the pre election, election day and post election.

“Like I mentioned before, no election is worth injury or loss of life . I crave for a peaceful conduct of election at all times. The choice of representation resides with the people and ultimately God.
“I want to thank you for believing in my leadership and understanding that credible representation at the Senate is of utmost importance.

“By the grace of God, we shall triumph at the rerun election. I will defend the interest of our people at all times,”
Mr. Donald Ogah, the team leader of the Idoma Dreams said returning mark to the Senate was not negotiable “because he represents Idoma Dreams. This battle is not for you ( Mark) but for the survival of Idoma nation.
“We would not sit and watch outsiders determine our future and destiny. We have a choice in Senator Mark”.
Meanwhile, about ten groups, under the auspice of the United Idoma Citizen (UIC), on Sunday, January 24, urged the former Senate president, who had been in the Senate since 1999, to step down for other to lead.
