Dasukigate: Lai Mohammed replies Goodluck Jonathan

– Lai Mohammed has stated that Goodluck Jonathan will be probed if implicated in the arms deal scandal

– The minister assured Nigerians that the presidency does not micro-manage the anti-graft agencies

– He revealed that government officials looted N273.9bn from pension funds between 2005 and 2011

Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, has said that former president Goodluck Jonathan will be probed if implicated in the arms deal scandal.
Speaking at a world press conference in Geneva, Switzerland, the ex-president faulted the claim by Mohammed that over 15 governors under the past government were corrupt.

“As for the Information Minister (Lai Muhammed), you quoted; I was not president in 2006 but in 2010. He said about 15 former governors of states were corrupt. I believe for the Minister of Information to say that, he must name the 15 governors. I also believe the list must be with our security network. The truth will still come out,” he said.

Daily Post reports that the minister responded while speaking at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, on Friday, January 29.
While delivering his speech as a guest lecture at the faculty of arts, Mohammed said:
“The presidency does not micro-manage the anti-graft agencies and the presidency does not decide who to be probed at any point in time.
“The anti-graft agency will probe him if they feel that he has questions to answer and they would do their job at the appropriate time.”

The minister revealed that government officials looted N273.9bn from pension funds between 2005 and 2011.
Listing other corruption cases in the country, Mohammed called on all Nigerians to form coalitions that will galvanise their individual efforts to tackle graft.

Meanwhile, Goodluck Jonathan has finally made some remarks regarding the $2.1 billion arms saga, saying he would not interfere with ongoing prosecutions. However, he assured Nigerians that he would not be mute on such a huge issue which threatens the peace and economic stability of the nation.
“My voice will certainly be heard at the appropriate time regarding the alleged arms funds mismanagement,” he noted.
